Haiti Heard From The Heart

EVENT

In 2008 Haiti was heard from the heart when Americans united to help out one of the second most impoverished countries in the world. With deplorable conditions, inadequate water, shelter, clothing, personal hygiene, education or jobs. Their hearts filled with despair and hopelessness,  they needed our support and we joined hands to band together to support them.

The Tree of Life Foundation International, Inc. joined hands with American Airlines, American Airlines employees and local and national organizations to deliver much needed assistance to the residents of Haiti. The mission primarily provided aid to those affected by hurricanes and floods, for schools and orphanages.

American Airlines provided an Airbus A300 aircraft and thirty employees including William Dise, Nancy Hummel, and Nancy Rivard to deliver food, medical supplies, school supplies, computers, baby products, clothing, toys, personal hygiene items, and various other much needed resources. The flight to Port-au-Prince departed from Miami International Airport.

Over 2000 pounds of food were donated to Children International Life Line, an orphanage that feeds about 2,000 children per day, in addition to providing first aid kits and school supplies; the food was donated by Richard Proudfit, founder of Kids Against Hunger, MN. The Palm Beach Medical Society also donated medical supplies that were donated to Friends of Orphans.

The donations collected were valued at over one million dollars and were delivered to the needy in Port-au-Prince as well as to other areas outside of the Haiti capital, including Gonaives and neighboring towns.
